Who to give a certificate of appreciation to
- Volunteers at a charity, food bank, school event or sports club, at the end of a season or year.
- Employees and colleagues for long service, a finished project or help that went beyond their role.
- Guest speakers, judges and sponsors after a conference, careers day or competition.
- Teachers, coaches and parent helpers, from a class, team or committee.
- Students who helped others, for example as reading buddies or event helpers.
What to write
A certificate of appreciation means most when it names what the person actually did. Keep the title short (“Certificate of Appreciation” or “Thank You”), use a warm line before the name, then one specific sentence: what they gave and, if you can, what difference it made. Add the date and the signature of someone who matters to them, such as the head teacher, chair or manager.

Anyone without a line of their own gets the reason from step 1. Up to 100 certificates print in one go, one per page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a certificate of appreciation and a certificate of achievement?
A certificate of appreciation thanks someone for what they gave, such as time, help or support. A certificate of achievement recognises something they accomplished. Both templates are on the home page, and you can switch wording at any time under Occasion.
Should a certificate of appreciation be signed?
It is not required, but a signature from someone senior, such as a head teacher, chair or manager, makes it more personal. Add up to two signers with names and roles, and optionally an image of each signature.
Can I make appreciation certificates for all our volunteers at once?
Yes. Paste the names, one per line, or import a CSV file exported from your volunteer list. Each person gets their own page, with their own thank-you line if you add one.
Is my volunteer list uploaded anywhere?
No. Names and images are processed in your browser and are not sent to a server. The name list is only remembered on this device if you tick Remember names on this device.
More occasions – achievement, participation, star of the week, attendance, sports, reading, volunteer thanks and graduation – are on the certificate templates list.
