What to put on a certificate of completion

    Certificate of completion wording examples

Each example is the line before the name, the name, then the reason line. Copy one into the maker and change the details.

A different course or hours for each person

If people completed different courses, put each person's line after their name: a tab, “|” or comma, then the text. For example Alex Rivera | has completed Forklift Safety (8 hours). Pasting two columns from a spreadsheet does the same, and a CSV file with the columns Name and Course (or First name, Last name and Course) can be imported directly. People without their own line get the reason from step 1.

    Printing and saving as PDF

Choose Print all certificates. In the print dialog, match the paper (A4 or Letter) and orientation to the design, and set scale 100% and margins None. To keep a digital copy, choose Save as PDF as the printer: every certificate becomes one page of a single PDF with sharp, selectable text. This tool does not email certificates or keep a copy of them.

    Frequently asked questions

Is a certificate of completion an official qualification?

No. It records that someone finished your course or training, and its weight depends on who issues it. If your course is accredited, follow the accrediting body's rules for what the certificate must show. This tool does not verify or register certificates.

How do I show course hours or CPD credits?

Type them in the Award or reason line, for example “has completed Food Hygiene Level 2 (6 hours, 6 CPD credits)”. Long lines are fitted to their space, and the page list flags any that had to shrink a lot.

Can each attendee get a certificate number?

Yes. Tick Number each certificate, then set a prefix such as FA-2026- and the first number. Numbers follow the order of your list, so you can keep the same list as a register.

Can I make completion certificates for a whole class or course at once?

Yes. Paste up to 100 names, one per line, or import them from a CSV file, and every certificate is printed on its own page.

More occasions – achievement, participation, star of the week, attendance, sports, reading, volunteer thanks and graduation – are on the certificate templates list.
